Any racing tips on getting the most out of a 170. General advise/info on sail trim, body positions for different points of sail, upwind tips..what ever.. thanx
Paul kicked my butt, twice, this past weekend on corrected time and just about beat us on elapsed time also. I'm in a H34 with a 153 phrf and he's rated 222! You can email him directly from the Owners Directory under 170's.
One major thing I learned before I sold my 170 is, if you are going upwind and getting pounded by chop, slide to the back of the boat and get the nose up. The boat will skim across the top of the waves and you will definitely move faster.
The same tips would apply as racing a Laser -sail with the hull perfectly flat, keep weight towards the front, raise the centerboard partially when sailing on a beam or broad reach, raise the centerboard all the way going downwind.
