I'm considering buying my 1stsailboat,a 1977 H25, what are the most important things to look at before buying?

Trouble spots on mine

Check the compression post and bulkhead for water damage. (rot) Look at the mast step. (Is it sinking into the deck?) How dry is the interior? Look in the bilges, under cusions, etc. Look and smell for mildew and or staining. Look for blisters, cracks, and other glass defects. Look under the sink at the electrical panel wiring. (mine was a totally useless mess) What are the sails like? There's a lot to look at. Take your time.

After seeing some of the posts about blisters you

should get the full deal survey and be present when it's done. Ray S/V Speedy

Survey

I agree wholeheartly. And if the surveyor shakes his head and says "If we stop now, I'll only charge you half price for the survey" DON'T second-guess him!
