I'm looking at a Hunter 326 this weekend, anything I should be looking for specificly with this model. I have the typical 125 item checklist form this site to review prior to making an offer. Looking for those things specific to Hunters.

Checklist? What checklist? Could you share the location to find that please? I find these checklists good for reminding me about my own maintenance needs.

Thanks and good luck!

This check list is an excellent idea to determine if you want to invest in a survey. Quite often people jump into a deal without doing a once over of the boat to determine if they are even interested in going to the next step.

A survey will be required to get a marine policy on the boat so the more you can determine ahead of time will help you make your price adjustment prior to the survey taking place.

Thanks Scott that's the checklist I have with the other posted additions. I have the mositure meter and tool bag inhand.
The broker let me know the boats not available this weekend so I've been pushed out till 6/2.
Anyone know of knooks and crannies to check specific to Hunters, things you found on your presurvey inspections I should look for?

I sailed a 326 recently are really liked it. The model I sailed had the sheet winches on the cabintop and I prefer to be able to reach them when standing behind the helm, since I single hand most of the time. Lot of nice features on that boat. The admiral thought the rear berth mattress was kind of low, but she is sensitive to stuff like that since she had a full knee replacement.

I owned a 326 prior to buying my 336 .... reason I moved was 326 is on a 31 hull and 336 is on a 34 ... much bigger boat- family of 5 with youngest age 16 ... so all adult size peeps.... anyway 326 is a great boat.....I miss the in mast furling main and traveler on arch.....boat handles well...excellent under power ..especially backing into slip- as is 336.....nothing critical to say nor any watch outs for that model....

What's the age of the 326 you're looking at? Some years ago, there was a recall of through-hull valves. So you might want to check and see if those valves had been changed out. You might want to check under the windlass (if there is one) to make sure there's no water leaking through and rusting the shaft & gearbox. Have to unscrew and lower the wood work at forward V-berth. Not difficult.
I can't think of any other things to check but if you have any specific questions, just drop me a PM or post it here. Quite afew mod & enhancement you could make.

The Hunter 326 is a 2003. Thanks for the heads up I pulled the recall notices from Hunter and I'll check the valves and also the windless gearbox.

Hope the Broker has patience I'm going to be awhile checking things out.

It was a great weekend the inspection whent great using all the checklists as a guide. The only issues were the hose from the engine to the water heater was leaking where it connected to the water heater and the recall for the thruhulls hasn't been completed. I made the offer and the seller accepted. Next step is the survey as soon as we can get one scheduled.
Questions for those Hunter owners out there. The bimini has a full screen enclosure, is this useful, it doesn look as though it's ever been used. The macerator discharge valve should be locked closed. How? no provisions to even ziptie it closed.

Hope to have the boat in Charleston for the week of the 4th if not sooner.

My discharge valve has rings on handle and body to fit a padlock or zip tie. Maybe yours was changed. Drill a hole on handle and tie it against something? Not sure what a Bimini screen is. I've a large Bimini and its a godsend. Have fun.
