I believe that a good cabinet maker or anyone with some good woodworking skills could change the galley arrangement in a later model O'Day 23. .

I have always thought your 222 is a very nice looking boat, the interior layout, I think, is superb, open, bright, roomy and with a built in kitchen too.

I have installed a new sliding kitchen unit that I made a couple of months ago, it works very well, l'll post some pics of it shortly.

I always enjoy reading your posts, you are so helpful and have great ideas.

Thank you John for all those nice things that I asked you to say about me. :D
All kidding aside though, I'd really love to see the pics of your galley when you can get them up.

Some of my ideas were stolen off my friend Wayne who owns a Seaward 22. He likes to refer to himself as a "Tinkerer". Whenever I take an idea off him I always improve on it, which makes him a little green with envy.

A good majority of my ideas come from a need to make my boating experience easier and less labor intensive as I approach "Geezerdom."
I'll try to keep them coming.
Thanks John!

Joe

I'm in the process of buying an 80 model. I have had a couple cruisers before, years ago. I noticed on this one the companionway sliding boards are warped. My other cruisers did not have warped boards. I wonder if these are not teak? Where can I get some new boards? Thanks, Ernie in Texas

Erniee,
One thing I learned on this forum is when someone ask where to get something for their Oday, the answer is to call Rudy at R&D Marine. I believe he has them on his web site.
We just purchased our 1980 Oday 25 Wed evening. The companionway boards were flat but not sure if they are original or replacements.

Going down tomorrow to take some photos for posting, check out the OB and maybe a sail.

Wonder why you are not just making some hatch boards yourself?

Keith is right. I would make some hatch boards. I'm on my second set of hatch boards right now.
Most of these hatch boards are made of plywood and if you don't seal the end grain, they will open up and warp.
Rudy also sells acrylic hatch boards.
A friend of mine made some hatch boards out of Starboard and they are holding up a lot better than mine.
I'm planning on making some hatch boards out of solid wood this year or next. I'm going with 1-1/8" wood. Even if you're not up to this task, I think that a good cabinet maker could do it probably for the same money spent on acrylic boards.
