2+ crane for the mast
My wife and I have handled taking down, or stepping the mast several times. It was a big advantage to help someone else with their mast before doing ours - to see the oder of operations, and issues to prepare for.The Yanmar 8 hp is fine for getting in and out of the harbor, and cruising when the wind is too light. We do 4-5 knots on her in that condition. There is no reason to suspect replacement based on wear and tear. If no problems are seen on survey it's still good for years. (Our '77 Yanmar is still going great guns.) I have sustained 3.5 knots into four footers, but would look for more power if I had to buck currents over 3 knots to negotiate the harbor. (We have no current in most Lake Erie harbors.)They are great boats - but be sure to get a really good survey, since all boats of this age have some deterioration somewhere.DavidLady Lillie'77 h27
