Living in Fl. now & have really been looking at buying a use sail boat to live aboard. It’ll be my first boat & I still want it to be comfortable with room enough to move around.
Some of what you want will depend upon your physical size. I am small and fairly lean so 30 feet works for me for a couple of weeks at a time. Also I am not claustrophobic.
Longer boats are also wider and usually have more headroom. If you are 5'4" tall and have a companion of similar stature then you could live with 28 to 30 feet quite nicely. What you need for entertainment also enters the picture. Do books work for you or do you need electronic sources of entertainment?
Food and personal hygiene are major factors. Bigger boats are more accommodating in this department.
Then comes the great equalizer, how much can you spend? A tent in the woods is much less costly than a room in the Hyatt-Regency but the accomdations are slightly different.
Can anyone give some heads up on what to look for & what to steer clear of like cheep types of boats that don't hold there value?
