I was wondering if anyone has any web addresses or downloadable screen savers where I can download sailboats, anchorages, etc, etc. What comes stock on my PC just does not do it anymore! It would be nice to get lost during the day by looking at a tranquil setting with naturally, a sailboat in the scene. Thanks Bob Catalina 30 Breezin II

Not desktop background. I do the same as you - use some pictures taken during the past season for the desktop background. For a screensaver, I line up the various pics on a disk and play them back. Hope you had your depth sounder on when you were heading for Main Duck Island eh?

Be very careful of these "free"...
Be very careful of these "free" screen saver sites! Many, or should I say most, of these downloaded free screen savers contain mal ware and spy ware. I just had to completely re-install the OS on my sisters laptop because she downloaded a free screen saver that was actually a malicious browser hijacker masquerading as a "fish tank" screen saver. None of the available spy ware or virus programs could get rid of this virus because it was so implanted in the registry and re-installed it's self every time you rebooted. This spy ware and browser hijacker was using 70% of her CPU capacity and ALL of her 512k of memory and it made her computer virtually useless. Do not download anything even from sites like Yahoo or MSN because they WILL put spy ware on your system. If you can find one from UK Halsey, like the post below references, it's probably ok. Stay away from sites promissing a "free" screen saver period! Why not make your own using a folder of your own pictures and have it display like a slide show? It would be a hell of a lot safer.

Try Webshots.com. You can get sailing pictures from them & also add your own. No cost unless you want to buy their "upgrade" pics. Use on my computer & kids have made their own screen savers ob theirs. Very easy. Thanks & good sailing! Dave
