Today was the day. I have sold every thing that I own, moved out of my residence, and sailed off into the sunset. I have started my journey to nowhere. My first stop is Alligator River marina, nice place. Tomorrow will be Belhaven. I have dreamed of this for years. I'll keep you posted.

Congratulations. Did you feel odd after selling everything you own? I'm very curious how it actually feels to be free of land based worldly possessions. I have friends that recently sold the house and everything they own, bought a VW Eurovan and they are traveling the country with their rabbit. Don't forget to start your own blog. I read their adventures everyday. I'm sure it feels a little odd to start but soon you'll feel the freedom.

Doesn't it feel great Prankster. We did the same thing this fall. We did keep our day jobs to save up a nice cruising kitty before we set out.

Selling all your stuff feels great!

Prankster be sure to keep a supply of port wine on board for emergency storm protection. It doesn't matter what brand, vintage or country of origin just any port in a storm. ;)

I spent one night there this past August. I recommend the cheeseburgers. :)

Don't fish from the pier. The lady who lives in the house next to the dock will come out and crab at you. :naughty:

The lady in the house next to the dock is Miss Wanda. She happens to own the marina! It's a great place to wait for favorable conditions to cross Albermarle Sound.
We sold our house in Florida and cruised up the East Coast to Massachusetts. The boat is on the hard, and we are spending the winter in Maui.
So, whatever your dream is, get out there and do it! Sometimes the hard part is just getting started.

Re: Tim, did you even sell your skis?!?!

Prankster is now a turtle! His home goes with him and he travels slowly and he may live for a very long time given the generally peaceful life style that he may and can pursue. He is going to be limited in the number of toys that he can accumulate. Is there a downside to this?

Nope. They are in our storage unit. We rent a 5x15 ft. space for some hand made furniture, family heirlooms, boat stuff and toys(mountain bikes, skis and snowshoes of course)

Thanks for all the warm comments. Tonight I am in Sneads Ferry NC. Things are going very well except for slipping anchor last night at 3:30 AM. I hope no one saw me on the foredeck in my boxers and t-shirt resetting it (50 degrees). It hasn't really set in yet that I am really doing this, however the inner dialogue is starting to slow down as I start to live in the moment.

Prankster, I didn't have time for the boxers and she flat out said she'd be up soon. Enjoy your adventure and may it be a long, long trip.
And when you do drink beer, name your own brand!
