Long Island Sound getting high winds today

My mooring is exposed to the east ....fetch is many miles. I just checked from shore and the boat is fine. I had doubled the bridle so each side has a slack backup. Waves appear to be about 4 ft. but not breaking. Glad I’m not aboard.

I didn't expect Dorian to get up there so fast. I think we had slightly less wind when Dorian was 112 nm (Bearing 107 degrees) away here in Jensen Beach and it was a Category IV. I think it's fair to say this storm raked the Eastern Seaboard. I hope your's and other's boats do well.

We spent the night on the boat Friday..... on our mooring. Blew consistently 25-35 all night from ne. Our harbor is well protected but the sound was angry indeed! Made for a fun night! Hoping the sound flattens a bit today for a sail.

We sailed on Saturday, which was a beautiful day after Dorian sped on by during the dark hours between Friday and Saturday. We were surprised to see high tide flooding some parking lots along the bay Saturday late in the afternoon. Our marina has high ground and high docks so we weren't affected by the high tide. It may have been close to 2' higher than normal high tide.

That was some storm. It apparently became a Cat Two in Nova Scotia! Or was it Newfoundland? Which ever; and if it's a tropical cyclone or an extra-tropical cyclone, it's still a very destructive storm. She'll go into the history books. Donate to responsible Bahamian relief organizations if you can.

Took my O'Day 322 over to Milford from Mt Sinai Saturday afternoon and returned early Sunday afternoon. Wonderful sailing both days! Plenty of wind, but not too much for single handling. Great trip.
