We're not done sailing for this year but we are planning next year's sailing trip. I need some advice. I want to sail from Atlantic City to Block Island next June. When we've done this before we sailed directly to Block which took about 28 hours. This year I will bring our grand daughter and dog so we want to stop for the night. What inlets do you suggest as a stay-over? I obviously have no local knowledge for that area. Our 37 footer draws 5 feet.

Anchorages

I did that same trip last May-left Atlantic City around 6am and did the coast of NJ anchoring in Sandy Hook NJ that evening. Next day through NYC and anchored that evening at Port Jefferson NY and on to Block Island the following day. Great trip and as long as the coast of NJ is not too nasty it is an easy trip with lots to see in NY and along the coast. Have fun.

Fire Island or Shinnecock

If you go in at FI plenty of water and a place to anchor or take a slip by the coast guard station,If you go in at Shinnecock theres a place called Oaklands just inside, be cautious any further inland because of low water
