I live in NE and bought a Catalina 22 off ebay just outside of El Paso. If I'd gone 2 miles further south when I picked it uip, I would have needed a passport. I talked/e-mailed the owner several times during the auction period and felt no hesitation about his honesty. After winning the auction I asked him to suggest a local tire shop that would check the trailer wheel bearings and put new tires on. He was a nice enough guy that he took time off from work and had the work done himself so I didn't have to wait around while it got done once I arrived. It's the second boat I've bought where I needed to tow it a long distance and feel it's just cheap insurance. It doesn't make any difference how nice the boat is or how good the price if you end up wrecking on the way home because you didn't take care of some basic maintenance. I also bought a new rim and tire just in case the unexpected happened. Enjoy your boat.
