Am going to London for a few days in October, have in mind visiting a used bookstore that has a good nautical collection, a chandlery, anything else along those lines. Suggestions? We are staying in the City.Nicholas Walsh

In London is difficult to find a decent chandlery
(hard to believe).

But for books, there are decent books at Ocean
Leisure, next to embankment station
www.oceanleisure.co.uk/ . Also in borders, in Charing
Cross road (120 or 119).

Going down that same road (south wards, about 4 bocks)
you will find lots of second hand very old bookshops.

However none would ever beet Amazon.

I leave here in London, so if you would like to meet
up for a beer let me know.

Cheers

I agree that London is fairly badly served for sailing shops. I lived
aboard for a while in London, and had a lot of trouble finding spare
shackles etc. It was easier to wait until I went to Portsmouth or
Bristol to buy things.

However, if you're interested in nautical history, the national
maritime museum in Greenwich (south east london) is highly
recommended.
