Is anyone buying it? Do you use it? I used Stabil for the first time last year. My previous year's gas is used for my dink motor and I start fresh for the boat. Last year the dink motor (an old crusty but trusty Johnson 2hp) started getting a little flaky but I just winterized it and put it away 'till now. I haven't tried the Stabil gas yet. What do you folks think?

If you have a 2 hp

gas engine, you probably only have a few gallons of fuel for it. If it were me, I'd take the old fuel (with Pri-G or whatever in it) to the toxic waste disposal facility nearest your home or boat and get rid of it. It seems to me that both gas and diesel now have shorter and shorter shelf lives, which can probably be only extended a few months with gas or diesel stablizers (I use Pri-D for my diesel). A lot of engine problems can be traced to dirty or old fuel -- why take the chance if you can dispose of it easily? Now if I had a power boat with a 100+gal fuel tank that was full, I'd probably give it a try....

soltron or Startron

I've been using Soltron for years and swear by it. It's enzymatic, breaks down water and bugs into molecules small enough for the engine to burn safely. Soltron sold rights to Starbright who markets it as Startron, same stuff, just a bit watered down, still recommended. Available on this site. Dave Groshong Customer Service SailboatOwners.com
