Location of Refrigeration Unit

I have a '87 Catalina 30 which I purchased last year. It had refrigeration with the compressor installed in the transom locker behind the steering pedestal, but the unit no longer works.I am in the process of purchasing a new unit and am interested in alternate locations for the compressor, where adequate ventilation is available, but better isolated from dampness and abuse.Any suggestions would be appreciated.Ed

Refrigeration Unit Placement

Ed,Just got done relocating mine(refrigeration compressor) on the port side quarter shelf above where the water heater is located. I built a small plywood base and mounted it up out of the way so you can barely see it('84 Catalina 30). It seems to work out very well. To do this, I had to move the engine coolant bottle to the side just above the water heater where it can be more easily monitored and filled. Both moves worked out very well and freed up some extra space. Hope this helps.Jerry - San Diego
