I'm looking for a place to drill some holes. I guess the minimum I need is a range of close hauled sheeting angles. If anyone has done this I'd love to hear where they placed the tracks.

Fairlead Location

Rob, If you construct a perpindicular from the headstay through the clew and continue to the deck you will be at the approximate location for the fairlead. Since this location is a variable based on wind speed, relative direction, sail shape, sea conditions, etc. a track running fore and aft across that point should be adequate. There is much more to consider, but that is the basics. Dennis W. S/V Fullsailed

28.5

Fortunately the 28.5 sloped deck cabintop layout would allow a short section of inboard track fairly easily, but the inner head liner might prove to be a challenge for the thru bolting. Realistically, when you are using a standard 110 jib you probably won't benefit much from the tighter sheeting angle. If you go to a 95% blade and sheet inside the lowers, you might see some benefit, but presumably the rest of the systems should all have bben upgraded to the max already--top quality sails, Headfoil system, deep keel and hull completely faired and wetsanded, folding prop, all low stretch halyards, all excess weight eliminated, etc. if you do it, please take some pictures and check out : www.huntertwentyeightfive.com for a few like minded owners.

Thanks for the replies

I guess since I have the 110% I'll wait till getting new sails before I tackle this. Thanks for all the suggestions.

#3 tracks

I installed #3 tracks on the cabin top inside the shrouds and approximately 2 1/2 feet long on my 35.5. These tracks need to be through bolted due to the very large loads that they face. I cut small access holes on the inside of the cabin liner and covered them with a small length of teak for appearance. When I fly the blade jib we use these tracks and cars then run the sheets back to the cabin top winches. Tacking is very easy. Standing in the companionway, release the working sheet and turn around and pull in on the new sheet. Almost as good as a self tacker and way faster.
