Hunter H260 Traverse City
I've been able to do everything single handed on the H260 except one thing - load it on a trailer. Unless I have someone guiding the position of the stern between the poles on the trailer, the keel will end up off to the side on the bottom bunk. It occured to me that I could build a 4 x 4 "V" that guides the boat into the center of the bottom bunk as I pull the boat on the trailer and keep it there when I pull the boat out of the water. (I've noticed that people stop and stare when the boat pauses to pee) Has anyone come up with a single-handed solution to make sure the boat keel ends up in the center of the bottom bunk when you pull the boat off the ramp?

Vee is the idea

George, Someone on the site has made a vee for the centerboard to slide into and keep the boat straight. Try the archives. Love the dumping of ballast. I'd comment to my wife that we really need to get that leak fixed and the power boaters would just stand there with their mouths catching flies.... Jim S/V Java

Yeah it sure is funny

to see the looks on peoples faces. I remember when we first sailed the 260 up in Fremantle (you all know the place. Its where you stole the cup from us!)when we pulled her out there was an elderly couple walking past. The old dear looked very concerned and I heard her say to her husband."Look at that brand new yacht. They must have put a hole in it".

"V"

I have two guide poles on each side of the 260 trailer however often she rest slightly to one side or the other. Yes I would like to see a design of a "V" contraption that centres her every time. One thing I have found is that it is critical to load her on a "level" ramp. If the ramp slopes to one side she is very difficult to get centered.

I'm looking for the singlehand solution, but I've found that a couple of fenders hanging about where the poles would meet helps the person trying to keep the stern centered as you pull up the ramp. I'm working on a short "V" made of 1.5m 4x4's. Will cover with indoor/outdoor carpet and fasten from underneath the center bunk.
