Yankee Condore 21 Halifax
Hi all been gone for quite sometime and decided to pay a visit again. Well Privateer is starting to show her age once again since I reworked her. The LED lighting turned out to be superior. The cabin is bright and navigation lights work well although I did have to replace the port light.
Currently living aboard in Halifax Harbour at the Alderny Marina. Mostly living aboard I should say. Now that I'm free of the slave drivers I've decided on a Bohemian lifestyle woohoo: -) Privateer being only 22 feet is a bit tight but doable. The worst is not having standing head room: -( Since the refit I heard about those Raspberry PI's and have incorporated one into Privateer. I wrote a 'C' program to grab the GPS,temperature sensor, barometric pressure sensor and a 9 DOF sensors data. I've also made a voltage divider for the battery bank and future solar panel. All this fed to the PI which does a nice speedy job of calculating everything and displaying on the cabin 7 inch display and main data to a 4 line by 20 character display for the cockpit. The kewl thing about the PI is very low power consumption about 2 amps vs 5+ for the old laptop. The 9DOF sensor allows me to capture heel and pitch of the boat as well as a magnetic compass ( which has been to problematic to use as yet) Given the data from GPS heel and pitch I will be working on getting a linear actuator and hooking it up to the tiller and adding auto pilot to the mix.
I've been using a Coleman electric cooler for perishables and it works well enough but does draw 5 amps. Luckily my slip has power so I can run it off that. Will try and add a few photo's of my den lol.
