C&C 25 Mahone Bay NS
As a newbie sailor, I've just bought an ancient C&C 25 which marine surveyor assures me is solid and reliable. Now fantasizing about sailing around the world-- alright, maybe following the coast from Halifax NS to the Carribean.

My question-- can you actually do this in this tiny boat? Has anyone ever done it? I realize the boat is primarily for racing and weekend outings but I've heard of liveaboards on smaller boats, just not a C&C25. I'm wondering it's just too sensitive to sea conditions compared to heavier boats its size like the Grampian 25. I'm also wondering if the transition from the so-called fastlane to the water, where 100 miles a day is a good distance, would be intolerably boring and slow.

Any info appreciated.

C&C liveaboard

FANTASY: You can can sail anywhere if you pick an chose the days on the water.
REALITY: You probably won't want to do it in a 25 foot boat. The C&C 25 is a very well constructed boat. It is going to be a tight fit for 2 or more people for coastal cruising. It is definitely not a blue water cruiser. I think that once you start sailing it you will quickly see its limitations. Storage of fuel, water and provisions will limit your range. Doing short hops along the coast will not be a problem. Your boat is surprisingly well mannered for a 25 footer. Enjoy learning its capabilities before you push the limits. Be safe and be prepared for the worst.

Ted has it right. The old C&C 25 is a great day sailor, club racer, and weekender. I used to sail on a friend's C&C 25 and found it a fun and fast boat in most weather conditions. But it is not a blue water boat nor an ideal liveaboard choice.
