Does anyone have any information as to why me O'Day 28 has a slight, but very noticable, list to port. I have tried everything, emptied all tanks, etc. The boat ust has a list to port. Any thoughts? My e-mail is mmcguire@valuenet123.com

Batteries?

My O'25 has a slight list to starboard. It goes away when my wife is on the port side. I've always figured it was the [two] batteries and the canned foods [for which there is only storage on the starboard side]. I'll probably eliminate that in my case since I'm adding two more batteries on the port side this spring. Russ

What Are Your Reference Points?

Curious, this question came up in the listserver community, some time ago. Many thought as Russ pointed out the redistribution of below deck weight. I wonder if your reference point is your boot stripe, and this may not have been painted on level? What is the list interms of a contractors level while quietly at anchor or the dock? Don

O'Day 28

We noticed same thing on our 28 when the water tank was empty. It is on the starboard side. When it was filled (200Lbs) 25 gal the boat was level again.

Our 28' had this same idiosyncrocy. When you stop and think that both the Hot water heartern he refridgeration, the batteries, the stove and the head are located on the port side, it becomes understandable. I installed a water tank on the starboard as well as stored spare chain for the anchor a mid ships. Seemed to counter balance it a little bit.

Tilted mast

Try making sure that yer mast is perfectly straight up-and-down -mabye yer shrouds r loose and u need to tighten one of them. I hope that helps. :) -Ben McAndrew
