Link 2000 Panel Haunted ??

I have the Link 2000 battery monitor at the nav station, it displays just fine but it would not let me use any of the buttons, just merrily displayed the voltage on bat 1. It worked for 2 weeks before doing this again, it happened 3 times with no common reason or trigger. Is the panel starting to fail from age, or is it posessed by Betelgeuse ? Can I threaten it with WD-40 ? Thanks in advance...

Replace the unit- must be that one of the button is staying down when pressed. This will make it impossible for the remaining buttons to work.

Have you tried resetting it? Do you think it's an electrical problem or a simple "mechanical" one with the pushbuttons? Good idea to push the buttons deliberately to see if Joe's right about the buttons.

Unplug the fuse

Try unplugging the fuse and replugging. My Link 20 needs resettng after being on the hard for the winter or going a while before recharging if I leave it in for the winter. Just find the fuse, unhook the fuse container for a few seconds, and then replug it in. That has worked for me in the past. I just checked my boat on the hard Saturday morning and my unit is doing the same thing. Hope it works for you and me this season.

Jerry is right, pop the two fuses on the back and reinsert. Better yet pull them both and check with ohm meter before reinserting. This has cleared up numerous gremlins over the years. Amazingly my boat made the trip from Florida by truck, has been sitting under snow for weeks, and last Wednesday the Link 2000 was working fine.
