I finished the installation of the Link 1000 about which I had asked some questions a little while back. Now that it's up and running, there are a few more issues.
First of all, I heard back from Xantrex and it turns out that I could have run the wires directly to the posts at the back of the battery switch according to them. However, I already had it installed with the wires running directly to the batteries, but that was okay. There are a few questions, though, and I've been on the line with Xantrex tech support and have gotten contradictory answers from different ones of them.
Evidently the Link 1000 only really functions fully with a Xantrex "Freedom" series charger/inverter. Mine is the Xantrex Truecharg 20+, so the Link 1000 cannot regulate it. However, I am also unable to get to the set-up mode (by pushing and holding the "set" button; when I push it, nothing happens.) One tech guy told me that this is because I don't have the right charger/inverter, but others have told me I should be able to get to set-up anyway. Also, when I hit the "select" button and go to "t" for time remaining on the batteries based on current usage, all it shows is 255 hours despite the fact that my house bank is made up of two 200 ah each nearly new AGM's, meaning the total hours should be around 400. The first tech guy (the same one who told me I cannot get to set-up mode) also told me that this is the maximum number of hours that the Link 1000 will display; others told me that I should be able to adjust this in the set-up mode.
Other than these issues, the Link 1000 seems to work fine in that it displays the voltage of the batteries, the amps going out or into the batteries, etc.
I sent a note to the Xantrex tech guy who answered my original e mail, but maybe some on this forum also might have some answers.

Glad to hear we both weren't crazy. Good luck, they should make good on it anyway, it's good PR for them.
