lines aft

I have a '73 C27 with roller furling and no spinnaker gear. The only line I really need to bring aft is the main halyard. I sail mostly single handedly and don't like leaving the cockpit, even with a tiller tamer/tiller pilot. I basically need a block at the bottom of the mast (there is no mast plate) out to a turning block, back to a cam cleat or stopper. Any suggestions on placement? Other hardware? Do I need to add another winch? (have been pulling the main up without one with no problems) If anyone has pictures of their main halyard aft setup, please email to medic6@msn.com thanks, B

Brian, thanks for your help with my problem of the 9.9 hood problem now maybe I can be of some help to you. I have all lines aft including the topping lift and downhaul for the spinaker pole. Give me a week or so and I'll e-mail photos of my rig to you. I should be down at the boat this weekend, 4-20. Thanks again, Ray

Winch

Without a mast plate, I'm not sure how to attach the block you need. But as far as the winch is concerned, consider that you'll have more friction to deal with, thus will need more help. You might not need one but in any kind of heavy winds, I would think you will (unless you're Ah-nold). :) LaDonna

Here's what I did

I bought some pad-eye mounted blocks and screwed them to my mast into tapped holes. Seems to work fine except they're a little higher off the deck than they would be with a base plate.
