The cloth cabin liner on my old hunter 27' has come off the foam backing in several places. I've tired automotive spray contact cement without success. Any ideas how to re-affix the cloth ? I'd like to replace the fabric rather than just glue the old one back. Is there a trick to this ?

liner cloth

I used 3m headliner spray and it worked good. However 3, 77 should work too. I tend to agree that the old should go. You may want to check surplus shops in the area to see if any have headliner or boatliner material. Auto headliner may be what you want to use. A friend used nylon carpeting held in place with Liquid Nails. It looks great! Has enough body to stay in place on his 1977 H27. When I can't stand the looks of the factory liner material I'll probably do the same.

smoke

Howard, I learned that smoke from smoking and cooking will resct with the glue used to bont the liner to the foam. replacing it seems like a good idea. look for a custom shop for cars and you will find they can do some super nice work or can supply you with the right materal for the job, good luck.
