Two thumbs up for Spurs
Not only are Spurs extremely effective for your purpose, but they should be considered one of the most important safety features of a boat. What is almost always overlooked is that a great many (majority in a little study I did) of the boat accidents that lead to serious damage, injury, loss of boat or death, finally get out of hand when a line gets in the prop. Things tend to cascade downhill in boat emergencies, and some odd line or other is just waiting to do you in. This includes numerous cases where someone had to get out of an anchorage in difficult circumstances, and ran over their dinghy painter, an out of control line to an awning, an anchor line or whatever. I would always rather sail, but there are times that the engine is a huge bailout.
