I have a 1984 Catalina 22, fixed keel. I have a new battery, the cabin lights work, the VHF works, but none of the running lights or anchor or bow lights work (yes, I replaced the bulb on the bow light at least). The fuse to the accessory switch broke in the fuse panel, so I cannot get it out. Would this cause all of the other lights not to work (even if the cabin and radio work??). I cannot figure this out, except that the accessory fuse must be interrupting the entire circuitry. Any ideas? Am I on the right track? Where do they sell replacement fuse switches? I'd have to replace the entire fuse unit for the accessory switch; not just the fuse.

I would have expected your VHF to connect to the accessory switch. While the fuse for that switch appears broken, it may still permit current to run the VHF. Nevertheless, again, I don’t know to which switch your VHF connects. The running lights consist of a white stern light and a red and green bow light. There is a switch for these labeled running. The anchor light, an all round light on top of the mast, should have its own switch. There is also a mast light or steaming light. This is a white light with a 120-degree arc on the mast slightly above the spreaders. Employ this solely at night when under power along with the running lights. It is not used when under sail power alone, and therefore, this mast or steaming light should have its own switch. I would first double check all the fuses for any corrosion that may prevent current getting to the stern and red and green bow light. Further, a fuse could be blown, but this may be very difficult to see. So, if in any doubt, replace the fuses.

it almost sounds like you might need a

new switch panel. maybe maybe not. they don't cost that much, plus if you're having problems with other lights, it's a good place to start. something you could try is to run power str8 to each set of switches. that way you can figure out if the lites come on. My reasoning for the new switch panel is primarily that if you're experiencing trouble now you could have problems later, out sailing. just my opinion
