Lights and Hinges

I have a 1992 Hunter 30. Lights: The starboard bow light needs to be replaced, but I have been unable to find the exact replacement part. I bought a replacement from West Marine that was supposed to work, but the holes in the mounting bracket do not match up to the holes on the rail mount. One has a single hole and the other has two holes ( I don't remember which one has which). Does anyone know where I can get a genuine Hunter replacement part for the starboard bow light? Hinges: The hinges on my port- stern cockpit compartment (the one that houses the batteries and manual waste tank pump-out) are screwed into a small teak plank that is mounted on the outside of the comaprtment. (in the passage way for the walk-through transom) The wood screws are not holding the hinges very well, because the teak plank is split and the holes are stripped out. I want to replace the plank with a new one. I have removed all screws that appear to be holding the plank to the fiberglass, but the plank has not come off. I am assumming it is glued to the fiberglass. Is this true? If it is glued to the fiberglass, what is the best way to remove it, or can it be removed?

Glued or not, it's the same.

Don, Use a small putty knife or thin wood chissel about 1 to 1 1/2 inch wide. Do not use wooden handled tools as they will split unless designed for striking. Start in a corner and hold the tool as flat as possible. Strike the chisel with a hammer or mallet smartly, but not too hard, and it should slide under the board and pop it off. Consider replacing it with marine plywood. It will not split. Good luck, Ray

Repace the boards

I replaced my split boards at the lockers with that new polymer board. They work great and I don't have to finish the teak!

My Suggestions

I have a 1991 30T. Owner's manual I hold shows the bow lights are Aqua Signal, model 25, manufactured by Ahlemann + Schlatter (aka: Aqua Signal), Bremen, Germany. The lamps are 12v/10w, model 904-00200. Replacement bulbs can be Osram 12v #6411 or Phillips 12v #12866. If you are looking for an exact duplicate replacement try calling Mike Thomas, Parts Dept, at the Hunter factory. I suspect Hunter may still have them on their shelf, or if not, can suggest where to locate one. I have a 1991 phone for Aqua Signal (312-2322-6425) and see they have a web site: www:aquasignal.de I removed the teak panels you described and found them held by a white sealant. I used the method described by Ray and they came off by gently using a 1-1/2" putty knife. After removal I scrapped away the sealant with the knife.

polymer boards

Dennis, where can you find the polymer boards? I need to replace the same boards on my boat this spring.
