I know this isn't a Capri, but I had to share this. At the Lightning NA's today, a barge came barreling in to the race course and actually powered though the finish line. Here are some pictures.

I'll ask the question that everyone will likely think, but was the finish line REALLY set across the center of the channel? Cause that is how it looks.

No, we were no where near the shipping channel. We hailed him on the radio when he was 5 mile away to inform him we had 107 sailboat and 15 power boats, most of them anchored, ahead. He told us that he was in to big of a hurry to change course. After he literally barged the finish line we hailed the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard informed us that the tug and barge were owned by the Army Corp of Engineers. Ironically a Army Corp of Engineers surveyor was in town doing some work on our breakwater and reported the tug to their superiors. The next day at 11am the investigation unit for the Corp showed up at the Yacht Club and was very apologetic. They told us that as of 6am that morning the Caption was removed from his post and was being placed on administrative duties until the conclusion of the investigation. Later that day we saw the barge doing its normal run from Manitowoc to Port Washington in the actual shipping channel 5 mile out.

Just wow... sounds like the Army Corp was attempting to "fix" the problem (little help to you now of course).
