Lightning grounding????

Anyone have info on how, or if the mast on an O'day 25 is grounded for lightning strikes? I've heard that many boats have a connection from the mast to the keel but I've not seen anything obvious on my boat. No problems so far, just wanted to know as we live in a region where there is plenty of lightning. I keep my boat on a trailer, so if there is a system to discharge the stike into the water, is there anything special I need to do to while the boat is on the trailer?

gen belief is to run a heavy cable from mast to keel bolt. cable should be atleast battery cable weight with as few bends as possible and very soundly attached to mast and keelbolt, crimped, not soldered. or a piece of anchor chain thrown over the side with about 3 feet below the water surface and attached to mast or rigging/chainplate, etc.
