It is now 3:30 and he is still not here.... and this is the second reschedule, the first two were called for bad weather.
Well, you can actually narrow it further. Tampa, FL has been said to be the actual city which is the lightning capital of North America. The word Tampa is an Indian word which translates to "firestick" which is what the Indians called lightning.

Whenever we had a problem site with lightning strikes in my telco, we'd contact GTE in Florida for a probable answer. No question about it--it's the lightning rod of all states!

yeah i know ..... close hit last summer...... and then i replace a very new charger with a brand new charger.... thems the breaks..... but oh what a great winter.....
Some of the light shows at night were fantastic! Lightning from every point of the compass, every few seconds.
I read the same thing about Tampa being Number 1. Never knew the meaning of Tampa an interesting fact. I've also read that Ft Myers is number 2.
I grew up in the midwest and thought I'd seen a lot of lighting storms. I can tell you one thing for sure you've haven't a lighting storm till l you've seen one of our Florida summer storms. Spectacular till it hits something you own.
My boat was hit this August as I watched it from my living room window. Ruined all the electronics and a lot of other stuff. 22 thousand dollars and a long time in the boat yard later the boat is as good as new.

Every year I here about strikes here in Punta Gorda but knock on wood
we have been OK.
My boat has so much electrical equipment I do worry but we here in Florida
we make sure we have good insurance for sure and all we can do is hope
for the best and be very lucky.
A friend has his boat next to me in the boat yard replacing transducers and other equipment from a strike with mast off.

I have many stories of lightning, as I I live here.
I can tell you that at certain times of year, we are one of the top 5.........

florida gets no more than cartagena or africa, which even gets more than arrogant and narcissistic florida..... look at map better.....
we have a lot of lightning, but where i am is more cloud to cloud stuff. when it does a cloud to earth bolt, they fat huge things that make the bolts of florida look weak.

loved florida, btw..is just that since i been closer to equator, i have seen much scarier lightning than presented in florida.
