I'm interested in finding more about crew safety in the event of a lightening strike. I have a 2001 Hunter 290 with lightening protection system. While the manual indicates the zone of protection, it provides no other suggestions. Should crew be sent below as is recommended for a storm? What about the mast seat that runs straight through the main salon and is grounded to the keel? Others with experience have suggested staying low in the cockpit. In the past, I have sent my kids to the aft cabin. Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated.
