Another typical summer on Lake Ontario...minimal wind. Spent more time with the motor on that at sail. Could use some advice on how to adjust the sails for very light breeze that osilate and shift. Thanks

Kevin: I think I can help you but first tell me what kind of boat you are sailing and how was your jib and mainsail set for the conditions. The first mistake a lot of sailors make in light wind conditions is that they induce too much belly in the main and jib. The reason that is a problem is that the wind does not have enough power to get around the sails and they just stall. To learn a lot about sail trim from a bunch of sailors that really know what they are doing, you should pop on over to the Sail Trim Forum. There is just a wealth of info there that will make your sailing experience really enjoyable. Additionally, no question is too silly over there. The only silly question is the one that isn't asked. We were not born with sail trim knowledge. Everyone had to learn from someone.
