Spreader lights on 1980 Hunter 33 not working!Power in cables at base of compression post. No power at spreader lights nor at connection exiting mast at spreader. Probably cable connectors at base of mast short circuiting? Any suggestions without dropping the mast?? Installing new cables through mast is a gamble due to existing conduit for electrical circuits.

Connectors

I own a 1981 H33 and there are no spreader lights. Yours may have been an add-on. Never-the-less, I doubt the wiring has gone bad unless it was pinched. I would suspect either the connector at the base of the mast or something is wrong with the connector(s) at the lights. The only way of getting at the connector at the base of the mast is to have the mast lifted off the base. The wiring at the lights may be another story. If they are wired in parallel, there may be a splice somewhere near the spreaders. A splice is a place where you may have a bad connection. Doesn't sound like an easy fix. You better plan on having your mast unstepped and doing some troubleshooting. Ken Palmer, S/V Liberty
