Hunter 23.5 N/A
I am interested in lifting a Hunter 23.5 to replace the re-furnished centerboard. My question is, how long do the straps have to be and how far apart should they be placed on the boat? I intend to connect the straps together on each side so they don’t slip. I am lifting the boat with a car lift in our farm shop.

A third in from each end would be fine or at the location of your end of bunk supports on your trailer. More importantly is the width of the strap, 3" or wider would be nice as it spreads the load out. You are only looking at 1500 lb load per strap. Length depends on your attachment point on your hoist. You could always use good quality load rated rope to make up the differance if the straps are to short.

The teeth that lock many two post auto lifts are very small. I suggest a beam across the arms so the arms aren't being pulled inwards. For clarification, you would need two beams perplendicular to the boat
