I own a 2005 Beneteau 331. In some sea conditons the lift keel makes a pounding noise as though it is rocking backwards and forward. The mechanism works very smoothly in terms of raising and lowering the keel. I would like to know if the pounding noise is a standard featur4 of the lift keel beneteau 331's. Also I have trying to track down a schematic of the lift keel mechanism, does anyone know where I can get that from? Thanks for your help. Regards Andrew

Lifting keel

No, but if you get one I would love to see it as I am going to soon take delivery on a Beneteau 323 with lifting keel. Also any information you have on maintenance, performance or anything else about the lifting keel would be appreciated. I often feel like an orphan on the Beneteau Owners Website because no one seems to talk about the lifting keel.

Other contacts?

Hi Ted No info on maintenance yet as I have not needed to do any. Just to say that the boat is great, very flexible, comfortable and sails well. Do you know of any other ways I might get an answer for the 331 lift keel question I have? Regards Andrew

Lifting keel

No, but I sure wish I did. I bought on blind faith and the fact that a nearby marina has 2 Beneteaus with lifting keels and the owners seem happy with them. I have a shallow sand bar to cross to get to my dock, so a shallow draft was essential to me, but as soon as I cross the bar I am in deep water with reaonable amounts of wind. The lifting keel seemed an obvious choice.
