1. I have a Jabsco accumulator for my potable water system. Big deal.

2. While pulling a new vent line near the accumulator, I snagged the locking clip which holds the hose fitting on the bottom of the accumulator tank. Still no big deal.

3. When I accidentally pulled out the holding clip, the hose fitting shot off and water flew everywhere. Ho hum. Still no big deal.

4. I've looked for hours for the shot off holding clip and had absolutely no luck in finding it. Now THAT IS A BIG DEAL !

The clips are worth pennies and the accumulator tank is north of $100.00 and shipping is extra.

Does anyone know of a supplier who might have spare parts for this beast ? I can't even find anyone who offers a replacement bladder for the accumulator. I have tried to carve a clip out of plastic but it's a little too picky and I'd hate to have it fail when I've got my back turned to it.

OMG man, this may very well be the solution to the problem. They look identical and I'm sure Jabsco used these goofy little fittings on many of their water handling products. The holding clip is really a pain in the ass as their later models have solidly molded barbed or FIP fittings which did away with these little pieces of :poop:.

More than “Pennie’s”, but I think Ralph owes you a beer!
Far more than just a beer, Greg.

John, for the money you've likely saved me, I'd like to grant you my first born. He will be getting out on parole next month and if you would be so kind as to give me your home address, I can have the prison bus drop him off at your place when he gets out.

No, no. you don't have to thank me. It's me who should be thanking you.

Thanks as well to @Rick Webb and @Hello Below for suggestions for a lower price. The part number of the clip is my ticket to salvation.

This link done by me, may help you.
Good write up. You mentioned you had a water leak at the air charging valve. How did you detect the leak if the valve cap was on ?

Yesterday I was removing one of my holding tank vent lines and had to remove my 1 liter Jabsco accumulator to get to the vent line. Many, many years ago I mounted the accumulator upside down and inside out because it was in an area where, if the accumulator decided to leak, it would flow to the bilge and no harm done. I refuse to put it back where it was as it was impossible to get near it. I am now looking at mounting it in a cabinet under the galley sink where it could do some damage. Hence the question: from where does it leak if the diaphragm leaks. I don't think it could leak from the joint which clamps the diaphragm rim.

I was woken 2 times, at anchor, by the water pump kicking on.

So I traced down the leak to a slow drip from the air charge valve. The cap was removed by the PO.

My guess he was investigating the same issue.

Simple fix was to turn off the fresh water pump while sleeping.
________

From the exit of the inflator valve, like mine did.

I decided not to fix mine, since it is just an annoyance.
or
if you want, try a bicycle pump, to inflate your good diaphragm or bladder. That will verify no leak.
or
Use a tire inflator gauge to check your pressure.

I must be lucky as I have not lost any air pressure for many years as I check it most infrequently with a tire gauge. With its relocation to a non draining location, my only concern was possible water leakage FROM the unit and damage to the surroundings.

I think if I keep my fingers crossed, I should stay dry.

I figured you would bequeath him a kid who now wants to go to grad school or something:facepalm:

I played it smart way back when and told him to go out and pay for his own @!*+#$%^ education because there wasn't any college fund for him. So he busted his ass in the summer to pay for his education and never goofed off once. Wouldn't dream of it as it was his money. He lived at home as the U of B.C. was close by. Gave him a new car when he graduated.

He's now doing the same thing for his daughter. But she's much smarter and going to the U of Hawaii on scholarships. Just works for her party money. If only I'd studied a whole lot harder.

Life as I know it has just come to an end :

I sent an enquiry to Go2Marine about the holding clips, part number 30648-1000 and whether they fit a Jabsco accumulator :

Basically, they said get stuffed. Not for accumulators. Every site says the same thing "only for Jabsco and Flojet pumps". In their photos, the holding clips look identical to the one I have left. And here I thought I had a set for $6.83 as opposed to WM's $16.99 for the same thing.

Maybe ask Jabsco UK if they know of a part number. I bet they'll hop to it when they see the size of the order  .

Fellow Rainbow Warrior here, met a fellow alum at our club a month ago. Doesn't happen often out here.

If you buy a new one, $100, the clips are included.
Those are truly words to warm the cockles of my heart.

$100.00 for one lousy 10¢ clip .......

............. and then throw everything else out in the trash :sosad:.

Or maybe I'll mount the new accumulator on the forward bulkhead as a conversation piece and hang it there with your fancy SS hanging strap. Now that's class, and all low :yikes: !

I'm now waiting to hear from Jabsco U.K. and I know they'll be all over this like a bad smell. I also hear the Pope is converting to Judaism.

Hey Ralph. I can’t afford to take your son in as a graduate student. Thank God you taught him how to pay for his own education.
I was thinking that your clips might be possible 3-D printed objects. All you need is to get one of those low cost printers, match it up to a low cost computer, some marginally, efficient software, and a bit of studying, and you’d have the ability to print your own clips probably for maybe less than $.10.

:biggrin:always here to provide helpful information.
