we love our dynema lifelines. So easy to do it took a couple of hours.@JK_Boston_Catalina310 replaced his with New England Ropes STS-WR2, I'm considering this route.
New Lifelines for Smitty
Today I finished our new lifelines. As a quick disclaimer, we haven't used side gates since the ICW, so this wouldn't work for others. Our lifelines were the original coated steel wire. They had rust spots, saged, were unsafe and unsightly. We replaced the top gate with a solid bar to assist...forums.sailboatowners.com
I bought individual Suncor fittings and a chunk of cable for my Gloucester 20. Used a Dremel rotary tool with a cutoff disc to cut the cable. The Suncors are considerably easier to install than the Hayn Himods I used on my standing wires.Or you can purchase Suncor lifelines from any number of distributors and install them yourself as I did but you will need a cable cutter.

What was your cost for the tool? How did it work? We're you satisfied with the results?When my boat was new I needed gates on the stbd bow to the finger pier. I ended up doing both sides. Seeing a major project, I bought the crimping tool and LL hardware. It was cheaper than having it done, and I still have the crimper that I'll soon use for adding a gate on each beam. I suggest DIY.

Depends what you need. Hand crimped (NicoPress) studs about $8-$9 each, a full turnbuckle with stud and eye, about $30.and how much for the fittings?
