Lifeline Modification

I want to move or add another gate to the lifelines on my H33 because of the configuration of the finger dock in my new slip. Now the gate attaches to the arch and I want to move it one stantion forward. Any hints on the design would be appreciated.

Should I leave the existing gate as is and add a new one?
Should I have it professionally done or can I do it with Suncor hand swedge hardware?
The span is about twice as long as the existing gate, how to make it so the ends don't fall
over the side every time I open it?
Where is the best source for the materials?

Thanks

I was thinking you may want to move a stanchion. But Leaving the existing gate is probably a good option because it will still work with floating docks that you may visit.
I think the swages should be professionally done.
You can put a stop on the lifeline on the side of stanchion opposite the gate to prevent the whole life line going slack. The lifeline over the gate will have to be put on the deck. Or run back to the lifeline and attached somehow. Otherwise, you would need another stanchion.
Try this website for parts.

I recommend for any modification of a lifeline that you have the swaging done on a shop with a hydraulic swage machine run by a person trained to operate the machine. Only way to assure your swaged end doesn’t become a week point in your “LifeLine”.
That said this may be a good place to try a dynema line for the gate. I installed two on my boat and they are terrific.
