I have bow and stern pulpits, no stantions. Wife wants life lines. I've looked in the manual and can see general stantion locations, but can't find any data on exact location or stantion height. Any help? Mark, Fresno, CA

divots

If you'll look very carefully you will find there are four divots molded in the gel coat exactly where they mount. You'll find all four are marked like this.

Watch out for those divots Ken and Mark!!

On my C25, 1977, the divots are clearly there but they are in the wrong location. I have both pulpits and stancions and not all of the bases line up with the divots. The stancions have to line up with the cutouts on the inside of the boat, not necessarily the divots. I'm sure Catalina corrected this in later molds but I would move cautiously on a older hull number as such. I would suggest looking at this from the inside. If you just drill the holes where the divots are, you may end up with lots of holes where you don't want them. I can send you some photos if you need. Also, make sure to route out the core and fill the newly drilled holes with epoxy to seal up the core. I can also explain how I did this if needed. Good Luck Mark, Dan

I find this highly limiting that this forum deletes messages without warning or notification that are merely intended to help others simply because they link to another site.

Come to think of it

It looks like the link to my home page was deleted also. I added that link so the original poster could email me with furhter questions if the need arrises. Why?

Hi Dan, I believe that if you look at the bottom of the page where you type in the messages, you can find a link to their rules. I think that they are basically censoring these messages. Not that they don't have a right (and legally) and somewhat of a responsibility to do this but I don't think that it is conducive to a free exchange of ideas and I don't think I'll be much motivated to spporting this site with links and references on the other forums and mail lists. I think that this has happened before to me here. The disturbing thing is that I took a good deal of time to find this info on the web for the individual as I'm sure you did as well and it is all lost. Not all of this info. was directing the individual to another site and it's just lost. ~Bilbo

I agree with Dan

You can check the locations from photos of other boats (dumbo.torrisi.org) but make sure you can install the backing plates/nuts from the inside. Mine are located just forward of the interior bulkhead and just about even with the rear of the cabin top. David
