I really don't think there is any problem with Sta-Lok or Norseman fittings for lifelines -- provided the goon doing the work knows what he's doing! These entail what my brother the aerospace engineer calls a 'process specification' as opposed to a 'design specification'. Swaging is a mechanical process that, done right, nets you a strong connection. Done wrong it's only a mess you would never think to use. The DIY terminals like Sta-Lok are excellent; but they do require that YOU take the responsibility for getting it right. Not to dis anyone here, and these are not very hard to do well, but it is entirely possible it could be done incorrectly or incompletely and still look okay. Be careful and do it right, and it should be fine.

I have found that getting good dimensions and going to the guy with the 10,000-lb machine is adequately reliable and gets me a good product. At worst one could add a nice little (cast-SS, from CSJ) toggle if they turn up too short. Not a problem.
