All we are doing is jumping around the Abacos: Marsh Harbor, Treasure Cay, Great Guana, Man of War, Hope Town, Little Harbor, around and around and around. We have been reduced to watching the ferry boat come and go. Attempting to not get run over by the golf carts, Living by the tide going up and down. Making sure the dingy has plenty of gas. We have used more gas in the dingy than we have diesel fuel since we got over here, the sailing is something that you dream of.

The amount of people you meet over here could fill a book. Must say that watching the Moorings/Sunsail charters generates a lot of laughter....

Damn this is fun, need to go - its happy hour on the good boat Java....

Jim, you're killin' me! Thankfully it was warm enough a couple of days that I had my "Nipper's" t-shirt on. Have you been to Nipper's? Course you have. After we arrived at Marsh Harbor on a delivery we didn't sail much. Is the sailing good? I do know about the sites and the beaches, especially up at Treasure Cay.

I was on the boat today. Not really sailing season - yet. It was still nice to visit with the girl. The cover did well and there seem to be no issues. I'm starting to plan my spring projects. The foremost project being GETTING THE BOAT LAUNCHED!

If you havent already been there, there is a most wonderful small reef 'just outside' of Marsh Harbour - Mermaid Reef. Just go to the "Jib Room" (marina) on the north side of the harbor .... where you can tie up your dink at the bar, walk out to the street turn right and walk about 1/4 mile and on your left you will see some mooring balls ... just an easy 'walk' out from the beach.
Since Mermaid Reef is 'inside' and the predators there are few you will find an AMAZING assortment of 'tropicals' just 50+ yards off the beach and if you look carefully the fish will be also between the beach and the reef down in the grass, etc. - sometime 'thousands'. Its a shallow reef so all youll need is snorkel gear. All the 'locals' know Mermaid Reef so if you cant easily find it, just ask. For dink tie-up payment, enjoy a few 'cool ones', etc. at the Jib Room when you return. Mermaid Reef should not to be missed when you're anchored in Marsh Harbour.

Ah....give it a few months and you will be back in the brown waters of the Potomac River! The fun part is that we have to watch for sharks this year when we dive on our boats.

Get down to Soggy Dollar Bar at Georgetown, Great Exuma. Wonderful place for cruisers...the "rental" folks seldom go that far south.

Go get some conch fritters at Wally's "Conch Inn" at Marsh Harbour. Watch out for the guana at Great Guana Key. Most of all, have a great time and don't give any thought to the snow coming tonight to fill up your old slip at Cobb Isl....

About the only place we haven't been to is Pete's Pub in Little Harbor. Either the tide has been to low or it was blowing stink...

Sailing has been fabulous. Imagine wind 10-15kts from almost the same direction for hours on end. Just moving you at hull speed, sails set with almost no interaction from you, autopilot just keeping you on course. Its enough to send you over the edge - if you know what I mean. We have only four days of what I would call bad weather since we have been here... Everyday is heaven

Found a beautiful King Helmut conch on Man Of War beach that is coming home.

We made it to Pete's Pub when several cruisers anchored off Linyard Cay and dingied over. Good but pricey cheeseburgers and we got introduced to a new hot sauce from the East Indies which Pete recomended. Enjoyed the sculpture studio as well. The casting foundry was closed. Entry into Little Harbor was fairly easy but even with a short shaft outboard we bumped the bottom a couple of times.

Meanwhile we are getting hit with an unforecasted snow storm. Shoveled 3" at 15:00 and another 6" just now(19:30). How did they not know this? I went to the YMCA at 10:30 and they predicted one to two after 18:00. So enjoy!!

No, we have decided to skip the west coast. Looks like we will be leaving the boat somewhere on the east coast of Florida so we can fly home. We have a complicated tax return to do and Joan wants to get it done right. All the records are at home. We will come back down in May and bring the boat home. I know my granddaughter is having a hissyfit over it, but must be done..
