It's such a shame that the finest sailing always occurs just before the end of the season. I often long for October in the middle of summer, which seems wrong. But there is no question that October is when I love sailing best!

To Every Thing There Is a Season..

I spent last night on my boat. Started the fireplace and worked on some wiring issues that had to wait until the sailing season was over.

I'll have my boat hauled this weekend, take a short break, and begin the hundreds of winter projects I have planned (and saved up for) throughout the summer. I have a fireplace, electricity, and a number of movies I did not waste my money on at a theatre.

Thanks to the weather, refrigeration is no problem. Through rain, sleet, or a possible "Perfect Storm" next week ,I will still be able to be on my boat.

As she always has, she will protect, comfort, and keep me safe.

As she always does...she will restore my soul.

In all my months in the Iraqi desert....this was the dream.

Scott thanks for the picts. I had never thought of sitting on the gunnels and using the safety lines as a back rest, looks pretty comfortable.

Starting the season

Oct. sorta starts the real sailing season for me. Down here, I don't venture too far off during hurricane season, and of course it's hot, hot, hot. But as the weather cools down some, and the threat of hurricanes is waiting for another year, long distance sailing is now the norm.

no, not very comfortable. I probably was thinking it would make a better picture. I'm sure it's not good for the stanchions, especially if I put on a few pounds!

Here's a picture with me more comfortably manning the helm ... and a picture from earlier in October when sailing with my son. He hasn't been back to NJ in October for many years so we had some great weather make an appearance just for him.

Those are Sail Care tags on the foot of the sails (from last winter), and that is the reason why the sails look so good!

The last few Sundays here have been great but a little rough in our little boat for the Admiral. So,this sunday we scored a long ride in a good friends O`day 32 out to Hart/Miller Island. Our pictures are similar to Scotts, best day out I can recall. Problem now is he wants to sell it and she likes it!!! Could be trouble for me this winter!!!
