I haven't even really started working yet...
but my dad is nearing early retierment in 670 some days, yes he counts down, he then wants to take a containership from Hamburg to Norfolk (as a passenger) since he will finally have the luxury to "waste" time

Jim, before my friend retires some months back he would complain he hadn't enough time to bring his boat somewhere. Now that he's retired, he still hadn't time to bring his boat somewhere. He's even busier now than before he retires. Go figure.

Retirees... an endangered species?
I suspect that fewer and fewer of us will be able to take fully-funded retirement. My wife and I are about 13 years behind you, but only my wife has a pension. We of course have retirement savings and home equity.
For me, my "retirement" will probably be working part-time in a fun, undemanding job, that can take us where we want to go.
So, in 20 years, when you buy sandwiches and boat parts from a nice old couple with a tiny store somewhere in Georgian Bay, that will hopefully be us.
