On Long Island - Matt-a-mar Marina in Mattituck - pool, restaurant, nice and quiet. Mattituck inlet can get shallow - check the charts.Port Jefferson harbor - the town dock is pricey at $3/foot and noisy. Try Danford's Marina - much nicer. Northport harbor - town dock is $2/foot - small, old-time harbor town. Town park right there at the dock, free concerts in the summer by the community band.Huntington harbor - several marinas offer transient moorings. Short cab or bike ride to Main Street. The last three above all have lots of shops, places to eat, and things to do.On the CT side, try Norwalk Cove Marina. Also $2/foot for a slip. 2 restaurants, a salt water pool, and a small beach on premises. Town park, miniature golf right outside the gate. Moderate walk or short cab ride to town, with everything from walk-up crab shacks to trendy cafes on themain drag in town (Washington Street, I think). Try the Brewhouse Restaurant, near the Maritime Aquarium. Good food, reasonably priced family restaurant.
