I did a dumb thing and let my Lexan sliding hatch slam down. Now I need to repair where a small corner has broken off. What glue will work best with Lexan? Or is there a solvent better suited for the job? Thanks, Dave s/v Windsong

epoxy

I would use a clear epoxy. There are solvent type adhesives for polycarbonate (trade name Lexan) but they are hard to find, tricky to use and not good for your health. Epoxy will be much simpler.

Go to a plastics shop.

Dave: I would go to a local plastics shop. They have all the materials to work with plastics.

I Agree with Steve...

Go to a plastics distributor. They have a liguid (that is used to make the lexan) and all you have to do is fit the two pieces together, and using a small syringe and needle, put some of the liquid into the crack(joint), and the two pieces will fuse together. BUT, it is important to get the RIGHT liquid.

IPS Corportation

We build exhibits and bond Lexan in house. i just checked with our plastic guys and they tell me they use: IPS #3 Made by IPS Corporation in Gardena, CA 90248 Dont have a phone number... Its true as the other responders said..this actually melts the lexan and fuses it together with the second section. Good Luck.......

I brought some of this glue @ the Miami Boat Show in Feb. I makes Super Glue look like Elmers. It glues just about any product together. They can be of different materials too. E-mail me if you'd like to know more...redbeard58@sbcglobal.net
