Lexan/Acrylic Window Job

Hello all,I'm looking to replace my windows as they're starting to leak, and I have some pretty ambitious ocean passages coming up. I won't be crossing any oceans until next year, but I'll be doing plenty of sailing down to Grenada and over to Panama this year. The front two windows leak pretty good already. The bigger ones not so much, or they don't get hit with waves as often. I like what Chuck Rose has done with his polycarbonate windows. They seem super tough and water tight. I'm wondering if anyone has details on what he used through the through hull bolts, what they were backed with, what everything was sealed with, and perhaps, how this replacement holds up over time. I'm worried about UV damage and regular scratching from work on deck. Thank you!- BryanS/V Tarka (#1639)Marigot Bay, St. Martin

Just a follow up -- I got in touch with Chuck Rose, and he provided most the answers I need. For brevity, I'll paste that info here for others to see:Chuck Rose's response:

We used Beckson 5" by 12"opening ports in the forepeak and are happy with them. I would definitely recommend them. Installation was not hard but I did have to use a coping saw on the edge of the locker forward of the head. I think my cabin ports are better
than Chuck and Laura's but they were a lot more labor intensive to build. Walt From: AlbinVega@yahoogroups.com AlbinVega@yahoogroups.com on behalf of astroknut@... [AlbinVega] AlbinVega@yahoogroups.com
