I would like to install a Lewmar adjustable traveler for my main sheet on a hunter 25.5. My son and I have been racing this boat for awhile and we think this up grade would help us. Has anyone made this upgrade? Any ideals on this upgrade would be helpful.

Not sure if the years make a difference or not as I am only familiar with my 1984. My traveler is located directly in front of the lower ledge to the companion with about an estimated 30" rail. There is a block and tackle to the boom attached about 24" in from the end. Not sure which brand, but it looks like OE.

Do you have any pictures ? My rail is the same but only has 2 adjustable stoppers. They work well but you have to pull the Poland manually move it. There is no way to feather it under wind gusts and that is what I'm trying to do

I have the lewmar travler installed on my hunter 25.5. I mounted it on top of the old one that original equipment. With the sliding bolt system, you can use the original holes, by drilling them out to 1/4 inch. You will have to buy 6mm bolts for this instulation. I got to sail it last week for a test run, seem to work good. I have never sailed with a travler that was adjuatable, so there is going to be a learing curve for me.

That sounds like a great setup. What model did you buy and do you have any pictures ?

I have a 1985 hunter 25.5, and the Lewmar travler I installed was a size 1.
It seem to be the perfect size for our boat. I got to sail it yesterday and I think it will made a differencein the way the boat sails. I also took some picture and I will see if I can attach them. Good luck on your project.

Fantastic images, Thats exactly what im was looking for to tell me the story. The traveller that i have been using just had the pin stops and had no way to adjust under load. This looks like a far superior setup.
Where did you purchase this setup ? I live in Canada and wondering about pricing to get it shipped here but do think that I will make the investment.
Looks like its going to be another expensive season. You dont happen to have any information about an economical Bimini for our boat model ?

Thanks so much

I bought it from DERENDER. I saw a add in SAIL magazine with free shipping about 1 mouth ago. The total cost was $401. This was a great price. You will need 15 6mm stainless bolts, 8- 3 1/2 long, 7- 2 1/2 long with lock nuts and flat washers. Hex head bolts will fit right in the new track. You will have to take out the fuse panel to access the 7 bolts in the middle of the track. This is a very small access hole so reaching the nuts is very hard. If you have a small boy about 10 years old would help. He can reach in there and get the nuts started. You will also need a short handle
1/4 inch rachet to tighten the nuts. Hope this helps. Jerry

Thanks, That information really helps.

What are your thoughts on the size "0" since it is good for up to a 28' boat. Has anyone tried that model ?

Jared, do you recall the length of the control line for the traveler? The sheet of course would vary a great deal depending on the boat. I have bought the series 1 but not the the control line.

Thanks,

Don

I bought 40 ft of STA-SET line from West Marine 5/16 dia. You need to cut it into two 20 ft lengths. This seen like it is the right length. I have sailed the boat several times now, and I am getting used to working with the traveler. We will run our first race this coming Saturday,
that will be the real test.
