Lewmar ST 16's

We have a Lewmar 16 two speed winch for our main outhaul. We would really like a self tailing winch there. If I had a 16 self tailing single speed could I swap the parts around to make my two speed into a self tailing winch, or are they completely different animals?

Here is a video of my servicing a Lewmar 16, single speed, self-tailing winch. Maybe enough detail to see if your 2-speed winch is interchangeable.

I think they are two different animals. If it were as easy as swapping out a few parts it would figure that there would be conversion kits available. However, if you can figure out how to do it... you could probably make a bunch of money.

If the Main Spindle Sleeve is the same, with two winches I could do it. If they aren't then probably not. I've found a single speed st very cheap, so I might just go for it, but it would be better if someone had a definitive answer. Thanks though.
