Hi all, I have a Beneteau 361 and am considering replacing my wheel with a new Lewmar folding type. Does anyone have any experience with these? Would love to know pluses and minuses. Thanks,CC
I have one on my boat and love the thing. I back into my slip so I can use the walk thru transom for boarding. The folding wheel makes the whole experience easy. I will say that early on (and maybe still) Lewmar had some problems with welds where the spokes go into the hub and with the leather showing excess shrinkage. A weld broke on mine and it made one side of the wheel wobble a little. My wheel was two years old at the time. When I called Lewmar they said send it back and we will replace it. I had a new wheel in least then a week. All is tight now. So the thing is very functional adds convenience and the company has what appears to be outstanding customer service. So I vote yes.Kevins/v Maelstrom
We put one on our 356 2 years ago and it's great! makes it easy to get around the cockpit, and because it folds we went to a larger wheel, for better control, without compromising the cockpit.
