Happy New Year to all!

Appears that my first project for 2023 will involve repairing a Lewmar forward deck hatch on my 2006 Beneteau 343. I still have a bit of research to do; however, It appears that the gasket is split where it was originally joined together. I have to confirm the Lewmar hatch size; have not been able to visualize any number on the lens or frame. The rough dimensions are 19-20" x 19-20" That would correspond to a Lewmar size 40. Not sure if it is a low profile or medium profile hatch. As I mentioned, still need to determine more info. Regardless, these Lewmar series are constructed similarly. Certainly, some of you have dealt with this leak issue. Did you replace the seal only, have the lens rebuilt, or did you replace the external part of the hatch with a new outer frame, lens, latch, & gasket?

Consider using Sikaflex to fill in the split in the gasket. That's what I did to correct a leak in my forward hatch.

May consider using sealant as a temporary fix. The gasket is now 16-17 years of age and appears to need replacement.

They have your gasket.
LEWMAR Coastline Hatch Seal - HatchMasters

Measure the length and add 2 inches. why?
when you fit it place you overlap and cut. If I remember right, use a drop of SuperGlue on the ends, hold together for 5 seconds, NO SEAM !

I fit mine so the sealing point was in the middle of latch down spot.

My opening hatch and port gaskets are now 24 YO and still look like new. A wipe of either :

..........every year will keep them looking like new. I recently switched over to Mothers as it has a heavier consistency, lasts a little longer and because it's not a Marine product, is half the price.

Hatchmasters are the go to guys for hatch repair.

The Ocean series gaskets can be challenging to replace. We had ours replaced when we replaced the lenses. Over time the gaskets compress and no longer seal well. The other place leaks develop is at the hinges, the gaskets dry out and no longer seal the hinge. Hatchmasters has the seals.
