lewmar bow thruster on a 1996 p42?

I would really like a bow thruster, but i am not sure what size will fit in the small compartment behind the water tank and in front of the drawers? I think a lewmar 3hp (2.2kw) will fit, it has a 5.5 inch tunnel, but i am not sure if that will be enough thrust. I would like to dock the boat in tighter place/ crowded anchorages under good conditions. I just want to add maneuverability, not dock during a hurricane. Does any one have some experience? or recommendations? I am on the bay in Baltimore, MD.

Exturn

Take a look at exturn bow thrusters. I am looking at one for my 420. I am not sure of the USA dealer, the last time I check the phone was not connected. Lots of information on the net. This unit mounts on the outside of hull and will be deep enough. Take a look.
